Revealing that Starfield uses a first-person perspective for dialogue, our character also won't be voiced, which may prove welcome news. Shortly after the presentation, Bethesda confirmed more on its Twitter account. It looks like we'll buy these from individual vendors across different locations.

You can piece entire sections together, swapping out core components like cockpits, engines, and more, and it seems that there's no need to individually craft those parts. This presentation also gave us our first real look at ship customization too, which we know is modular.

Unsurprisingly, this can't be mixed with the 'Introvert' trait, which does the opposite. Meanwhile, Traits can shape your personality, so if you choose the 'Extrovert' trait for example, you'll have more endurance when travelling with companions, and less when alone. For example, if you pick 'Dueling', that'll award 10% extra melee damage, while 'Gastronomy' lets you create unique food and drinks, alongside researching further recipes.

Changeable skin tone, head shapes, hair, hair color, eyes, and body details, Bethesda's giving us the usual options here, alongside 'Background' and 'Traits'.īackgrounds offer three starting skills each. Starting with customization, we'll be playing a fully customizable protagonist. The game looks incredible and I can't wait to get my hands on it.During 2022's Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, we got our first in-depth look at Starfield's gameplay. KitGuru Says: The Xbox showcase had its down moments, but Starfield more than made up for that. While the stream simply gives Starfield a 2023 release window, Microsoft and Bethesda have previously said that the plan is to launch Starfield in the first half of next year, so we should have it in our hands by E3 2023. While Starfield was initially planned for November 2022, the game was recently delayed to 2023.

The story takes place in the year 2330, where our main character joins the Constellation to search for rare artifacts across the galaxy. The gameplay also shows advanced crafting mechanics, third-person and first-person combat, as well as several key locations we'll be visiting on our journey. Players will have an extensive character sheet to fill out, being able to pick different personality traits and skills, as well as make finely tuned adjustments to how your character looks. We've heard before that Starfield will have upgraded RPG and character creation mechanics, and we saw a lot of that in action during the reveal trailer. Just a handful of these will end up being important to the main story, but it is clear Bethesda has built an absolutely massive universe for players to explore. You'll get to build your own ship and fly yourself between all planets in the system – there isn't just one system with multiple planets though, there are over 100. Starfield will offer the most freedom of any Bethesda game to date, almost looking like a mix between Fallout/Skyrim and No Man's Sky. Bethesda games typically aren't on the cutting edge of graphical fidelity, but everything is looking fantastic in Starfield so far, although the frame rate during the stream was a little on the choppy side. One thing that immediately stood out to me during the stream was the graphics.
